Big Jerry’s Fencing Permitting Requirements
Fencing in Antioch falls under the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County. In February 2026, Metro Council passed an ordinance requiring a fence permit for permanent fences built anywhere in Nashville and Davidson County, including Antioch.
Fence Permit
Antioch is a community within Metro Nashville/Davidson County. Residents wanting to add a fence to a property in Nashville must meet Zoning and Building Code requirements but are not required to obtain a permit at this time, unless the property is in a Historic Preservation or Historic Landmark Overlay, in which case a Preservation Permit is required.
Zoning Considerations
For front yard fences, solid fences sit back 10 feet from the street and cap at 30 inches there. Open fences like chain-link can reach 72 inches in that same zone and up to 6 feet elsewhere in the front yard before the house. For the side and rear yards, fences may be up to 8 feet tall.

I had Big Jerry’s install a 4 foot wooden privacy fence in a yard of a home my wife and I recently purchased. The home had an irrigation system for which I had a few very details on where the plumbing actually was located since I didn’t install it. Edwin and the guys from Jerry’s were very diligent in ensuring the didn’t hit the irrigation system while they were hand digging the post holes. I really appreciated this. The fence looks great. They cleaned up and left my yard clean of debris. Very happy with their work.

Highly recommend Big Jerry’s for anyone looking to install a fence in their yard. They are professional. Their prices are competitive and reasonable.They respond to questions quickly.. They are very efficient in communicating. The installation crew are punctual and clean up after themselves. We have a sloped yard and they did an amazing job making our fence look smooth and seamless. We liked them so much, that we brought them back to do another smaller decorative privacy fence. The quality of the fences are. Excellent. We used an aluminum (4’ Elon) fence for the perimeter of the yard, and the horizontal wood fence (skyline deluxe ) for the privacy decorative fence.
